Historians are being warned to check their cameras as cyber criminals target devices in the home and office. It sparked a new campaign to protect users from blackmail and extortion.
Watch out! Someone could be watching, even filming you, through the cameras on your devices. I don't think people know the risks associated. It's called CAM FECTING, a silent assault by cyber criminals who slip malicious software into your laptop or smartphone via email or text links.
By gaining access to cameras, criminals can secretly spy, record videos and blackmail users. Even surveillance cameras are at risk. If you have access to software, any camera would have a risk of CAM FECTING.
A new international campaign highlights the dangers, especially for those who don't change default passwords on new devices. Signs your camera may be hacked, include a blinking indicator light, a fast -draining battery, random apps appearing or the device freezing and crashing.
First thing is change your password straight away. Vigilance the key to ever -increasing threats. Make sure your footage is clean and just enjoy the technology. Jackie Quiz, 7 News.
